Outpatient pain medication use: An electronic daily diary study in metastatic breast cancer
Journal of Pain and Symptom Management Dec 11, 2017
Stephenson E, et al. - Researchers here aimed at examining the between-person and within-person associations between pain intensity and analgesic use in metastatic breast cancer (MBC) patients. In this study, some evidence suggested that pain medications were used appropriately by patients with advanced cancer. Patients with lower pain appeared to be taking medications in response to increases in pain. However, patients with more intense pain appeared to be relying on other cues to prompt them to take analgesic medication. They observed a necessity for clinicians to be sensitive to the individual differences in the factors associated with pain medication use in daily life.
