Outcomes with prophylactic use of percutaneous left ventricular assist devices in high-risk patients undergoing catheter ablation of scar-related ventricular tachycardia: A propensity-matched analysis
Heart Rhythm May 24, 2018
Muser D, et al. - In high-risk patients undergoing catheter ablation (CA) of scar-related ventricular tachycardia (VT), researchers assessed the impact of the prophylactic use of percutaneous left ventricular assist devices (pLVAD) on the outcomes when compared with a a propensity-matched group of 75 patients who did not undergo prophylactic pLVAD placement (the control population). Propensity matching by using the PAINESD risk score was done. The follow-up findings revealed that prophylactic pLVAD placement in high-risk patients undergoing CA of scar-related VT was found to be related to an attenuated risk of acute hemodynamic decompensation and death/transplant. No impact was seen on VT-free survival.
