Simon GI, et al. - Analysts aspired to figure out whether special guidelines were warranted for geriatric patients, recognizing the different pathophysiological characteristics of this group. In comparison to restrictive transfusion strategies, liberal transfusion strategies appeared to produce better outcomes in geriatric patients. They found this result contradictive of restrictive transfusion approaches. In addition, population aging would challenge resources globally, and this finding had implications for blood supply and demand, and optimal care of older adults.
