Outcomes of pregnancy and childbirth in women with hidradenitis suppurativa
Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology Jun 24, 2021
Sakya SM, Hallan DR, Maczuga SA, et al. - Using the IBM MarketScan Commercial Claims Database, researchers conducted this retrospective analysis to examine maternal and obstetric outcomes, as well as treatment utilization among women with hidradenitis suppurativa (HS). Pregnant women with HS (n = 998) and 5:1 age-matched pregnant women without HS (n = 5,065) were identified and data on claims related to diagnoses, procedures, and medications were investigated. Pregnant women with HS have a higher risk of certain complicated maternal and obstetric outcomes. Women who are planning a pregnancy or who are already pregnant may benefit from coordinated care from dermatologists and obstetricians.
