Outcomes of peri-operative glucocorticosteroid use in major pancreatic resections: A Systematic Review
HPB Jul 29, 2021
Kuan LL, et al. - Researchers undertook this review to determine how perioperative glucocorticosteroid use can influence major pancreatic resection. They explored Medline and Embase databases to conduct this systematic review. They analyzed five studies, including three randomised control trials and two retrospective cohort studies. Total 536 patients were analyzed. A statistically significant lower morbidity was revealed in the perioperative glucocorticosteroid group, according to four studies. In two studies, a significantly improved median overall survival was observed in relation to dexamethasone. In this first systematic review investigating this topic, findings demonstrate a likely positive link between glucocorticosteroid and results post-major pancreatic resection.
