Outcomes of patients on dual antiplatelet therapy post-coronary stenting following emergency noncardiac surgery
Acta Anaesthesiologica Scandinavica Apr 30, 2019
Irie H, et al. - In this retrospective cohort study run for 11 years, researchers examined outcomes, including 180-day mortality, of patients on dual antiplatelet therapy (DAPT) post-coronary stenting following emergency noncardiac surgery. They analyzed 133 of 62,528 patients who underwent any surgery under general anaesthesia. Findings revealed about 10% 180-day mortality after emergency noncardiac surgery in patients on DAPT post-coronary stenting. The factors that were related to bleeding within 180 days post-surgery were restarting antiplatelet agents earlier than 2 days post-operatively and coronary stenting at bifurcation lesions.
