International Journal of COPD May 31, 2019
Liao KM, et al. - Researchers used the Taiwanese National Health Insurance Research Database to determine the outcomes of COPD patients post-laparoscopic cholecystectomy (LC). They compared COPD and non-COPD populations with respect to outcomes of hospital stay, intensive care unit (ICU) stay, and utilization of mechanical ventilation and life support measures. In this study done with 3,954 COPD patients who underwent LC, findings revealed an increased risk of death, increased lengths of hospital and ICU stays and ventilator days as well as poor outcomes post-LC in relation to the presence of COPD.
