Outcomes of isolated head and liner exchange using large femoral heads and modern liners in revision total hip arthroplasty
Journal of Arthroplasty Nov 23, 2019
Sutter EG, et al. - One hundred and thirty-eight hips in 132 individuals who underwent isolated head and liner exchange for polyethylene wear/osteolysis, acute infection, metallosis, or others were recognized in order to ascertain whether modern techniques with the use of larger head sizes could increase the rate of instability following head and liner exchange. Results exhibit that compared with former reports, isolated head and liner exchange using large femoral heads and modern liners gave for superior stability. Moreover, the infection was the most prevalent complication. Additionally, distinct individual, surgical or implant factors that decreased the risk of instability or other complication was not recognized.
