Outcomes of intraocular lens scleral fixation with the friction knot technique
Acta Ophthalmologica Oct 12, 2018
Aaltonen P, et al. - Authors evaluated the clinical outcomes following intraocular lens (IOL) scleral fixation with the friction knot technique. A firm scleral fixation is provided with the friction knot technique. Findings suggested successful utilization of the scleral fixation in dislocated three-piece IOLs with loop haptics. Due to a high risk of uveitis–glaucoma–hyphemia syndrome (UGHS), avoiding scleral fixation of one-piece IOLs in young patients was recommended. Ocular hypertension, uveitis–glaucoma–hyphemia syndrome, vitreous hemorrhage, and retinal detachment were the main postoperative complications.
