Outcomes of endovascular thrombectomy with and without bridging thrombolysis for acute large vessel occlusion ischaemic stroke
Internal Medicine Journal Aug 21, 2018
Maingard J, et al. - Given that endovascular thrombectomy (EVT) for management of large vessel occlusion (LVO) acute ischemic stroke (AIS) is now considered the best practice, researchers intended to determine if any clinical benefit is offered by bridging intravenous alteplase therapy. Participants in the study were 355 subjects who had EVT. The strongest predictor for 90-day functional independence was successful reperfusion. Results obtained from this retrospective study supported the current practice of administering intravenous alteplase before endovascular therapy.
