Outcomes of endovascular repair of abdominal aortic aneurysms in narrow aortic bifurcations using the ultra-low profile “INCRAFT” device: A retrospective multicenter study
Journal of Vascular Surgery Dec 05, 2019
Orrico M, Ronchey S, Alberti V, et al. - Researchers conducted a multicenter retrospective study involving five vascular surgery centers to determine the outcomes of endovascular aortic repair (EVAR) with the INCRAFT device in narrow aortic bifurcations (NAB; < 16 mm). From November 2014 to June 2018, treatment with the INCRAFT device was provided to 127 patients; of these; 96 patients had standard aortic bifurcation (SAB; > 16 mm) and 31 patients had NAB. In the NAB group, aortic bifurcations with focal calcific lesions (less than one-third of the circumferential length of the bifurcation) were evident in 21.8% of patients and extensive calcifications (two-thirds of the circumferential length of the bifurcation) were noted in 48.3%, for 29.9% of the patients in the NAB group the aortic bifurcation had a circumferential highly calcific lesion (complete occlusion of the circumferential length of the bifurcation). Outcomes suggest the achievement of acceptable results with EVAR with INCRAFT in NABs. Patients with SABs and NABs had comparable results in terms of technical success and iliac patency rate.
