Outcomes of endovascular abdominal aortic aneurysm repair in octogenarians: Meta-analysis and systemic review
Journal of Vascular Surgery | Oct 27, 2017
Han Y, et al. - In this meta-analysis and systematic review, the results of endovascular aneurysm repair (EVAR) for abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) were investigated to assess safety and effectiveness in patients older than 80 years of age compared with younger patients. EVAR in octogenarians vs younger patients was associated with a significantly higher but still acceptable peri-operative and midterm mortality rate. In the elderly group, because of similar midterm re-intervention rates, EVAR continued to be an appropriate therapeutic approach if comprehensive pre-operative evaluation and post-operative surveillance were incorporated.
