Outcomes of endoscopic sinus surgery in adult lung transplant patients with cystic fibrosis
European Archives of Oto-Rhino-Laryngology Jan 31, 2019
Luparello P, et al. - Researchers evaluated the impact of endoscopic sinus surgery (ESS) in the quality of life (QoL) of the cystic fibrosis (CF) patients. In addition, they assessed the functional outcomes in the patients underwent the surgical procedure vs not treated ones, particularly lung transplant patients. Among the studied 54 adult patients affected by CF, 14 had a lung transplant and 9 had both lung transplant and ESS procedures. Outcomes establish ESS as the best option for enhancing clinical QoL of CF patients who do not respond to conventional medical therapy, with stabilization of respiratory function after transplantation.
