Outcomes of endoscopic resection for superficial duodenal epithelial neoplasia
Gastrointestinal Endoscopy May 20, 2018
Yahagi N, et al. - A retrospective observational study was performed to illustrate the outcomes of endoscopic resection (ER) for superficial duodenal epithelial neoplasia (SDET) as well as to compare endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR) with endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD). Three hundred twenty cases of endoscopically resected SDET (146 EMR-treated cases and 174 ESD-treated cases) from June 2010 to June 2017 were involved. Researchers reported that ER achieved secure en bloc resection, with the treatment type (ESD or EMR) selected according to the lesion size. The data presented in this work showed a lesion located on the medial wall was correlated with worse outcomes, such as prolonged hospital stay after perforation.
