Epilepsia Aug 07, 2021
Fredwall M, Terry D, Enciso L, et al. - In the present population of pediatric patients with psychogenic nonepileptic seizures, one third showed remission by 12 months; however, 89% exhibited improvement in events. Increased remission rates at 12 months were observed in correlation with connection to counseling by 1 month.
At 12-month follow-up, increased rates of participation was noted for patients with comorbid epilepsy.
Linking with counseling at 1 month was correlated with greater likelihood of achieving remission at 12 months.
Of patients reached at 12 months, 44% had their events reported on video-electroencephalogram (EEG) at diagnosis; however, those who did exhibited no greater likelihood of accepting the diagnosis at 12 months, of being linked with counseling at 12 months, or being event-free at 12 months.
