Patel PN, et al. - This study sought to assess the outcomes of patients treated with botulinum toxin to the buccinator muscle in the setting of facial synkinesis. In the facial synkinesis population, the buccinator was identified as a symptomatic muscle. Botulinum toxin treatment was found to be safe and effective. In addition, it significantly improved patient symptoms.
