Outcomes of anatomic shoulder arthroplasty performed on B2 vs. A1 type glenoids
Journal of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery Aug 09, 2020
Sheth MM, Morris BJ, Laughlin MS, et al. - This study was sought to correlate outcomes of total shoulder arthroplasty (TSA) conducted on A1 glenoids and B2 glenoids treated with asymmetric glenoid reaming. Researchers distinguished 1,045 shoulders that had primary total shoulder arthroplasty conducted for osteoarthritis in a prospective shoulder arthroplasty registry. In comparison with A1 glenoids, treatment with concurrent asymmetric glenoid reaming produced similar, successful clinical and radiographic early to midterm outcomes for patients undergoing TSA, although patients with B2 glenoids may present a more technically challenging anatomic total shoulder arthroplasty. Future follow-up on this cohort will be needed to confirm the durability of these early out.
