Outcomes of adjusted trabeculotomy in cases with juvenile glaucoma

Graefe's Archive for Clinical and Experimental Ophthalmology Feb 28, 2021

Khalil AK, et al. - In this retrospective case series, the author sought to assess surgical and visual outcomes of modified adjusted trabeculotomy in juvenile glaucoma (JG) cases. Between 2011 and 2018, the medical records of 43 patients (69 eyes) who completed a minimum of 1 year of regular follow-up, and up to 5 years were included in the study. Adjusted trabeculotomy could have a significant effect on IOP reduction in JG eyes for up to 5 years postoperatively, and appears to be an appropriate, low-risk surgical modality for the treatment of such eyes. It can be linked to cupping reversibility, and visual improvement in the long-term. To achieve an effective result, good surgical techniques and postoperative care are crucial.
