Outcomes of adjunctive therapy with intrathecal or intraventricular administration of colistin for post-neurosurgical meningitis and ventriculitis due to carbapenem-resistant Acinetobacter baumannii
International Journal of Antimicrobial Agents Dec 20, 2017
Chusri S, et al. - This work was designed to assess the efficacy and safety of intrathecal or intraventricular (ITH/IVT) colistin in addition to intravenous (IV) colistin for meningitis and ventriculitis due to carbapenem-resistant Acinetobacter baumannii (CRAB). As an adjunct to IV colistin, the treatment of post-neurosurgical CRAB meningitis and ventriculitis with ITH/IVT colistin was correlated with shorter length of hospital/ICU stay and a trend to lower mortality, particularly among severely ill patients.
