Outcomes of adenoidectomy-alone in patients less than 3-years old
International Journal of Pediatric Otorhinolaryngology Jan 19, 2018
Thadikonda KM, et al. - This research was formulated in order to estimate the percentage of patients under the age of 3, undergoing adenoidectomy-alone, who required subsequent management of residual sleep-disordered breathing (SDB). Furthermore, it entailed the characterization of complications following adenoidectomy. Experts also ascertained if any perioperative factors exhibited a link with intra-operative or post-operative complications and outcomes. Findings revealed the common occurrence of residual SDB symptoms after adenoidectomy in patients less than 3 years of age. Additional surgery was warranted in such patients at a high rate. The need for additional surgery could be determined via medical comorbidities such as GERD and large tonsil size.
