Outcomes for anaplastic glioma treated with radiation therapy with or without concurrent temozolomide
American Journal of Clinical Oncology Jul 31, 2018
McTyre E, et al. - Experts compared the outcomes with vs without temozolomide (TMZ) plus radiotherapy (RT) in anaplastic glioma patients. Patients with grade III glioma treated with either RT alone or with concurrent TMZ were included. In the postoperative management of grade III glioma, findings supported the use of RT+TMZ. They noted that there was a benefit to concurrent RT+TMZ that is independent of adjuvant monthly TMZ. For all patients and for anaplastic astrocytoma patients, progression-free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS) improved with RT+TMZ, as seen on Cox proportional hazards multivariate analysis.
