Outcomes following revision joint arthroplasty among hemodialysis-dependent patients
Journal of Arthroplasty Nov 04, 2019
Labaran LA, Sequeira S, Bolarinwa S, et al. - Among hemodialysis-dependent (HDD) patients, researchers analyzed postoperative outcomes following revision hip and knee arthroplasty and described the common indications for revision procedures in this patient population. From a retrospective database review, 1,779 HDD patients who had a revision joint arthroplasty between 2005 and 2014 were identified. Findings suggested a significant association of HD with increased length of stay (LOS), mean 90-day total cost, hospital readmission, septicemia, postoperative infection, and mortality following revision TKA. HD was linked to increased LOS, mean 90-day total cost, hospital readmission, septicemia, and mortality among revision THA patients.
