American Journal of Rhinology & Allergy Jul 09, 2018
Chaaban MR, et al. - Experts evaluated the rates of complications and revision surgery in patients who received balloon sinuplasty (BSP), functional endoscopic sinus surgery (FESS), or a hybrid procedure. Major complications occur with BSP including cerebrospinal fluid leak, pneumocephalus, orbital complications, and severe bleeding, despite the low overall risk. These risks ought to be discussed with their patients by the otolaryngologists. Compared to FESS, BSP surgery was more likely to have been performed in an office setting.
