Outcomes after first- vs second-generation drug-eluting stent thrombosis (from the REAL-ST Registry)
The American Journal of Cardiology Aug 07, 2020
Horie K, Kuramitsu S, Shinozaki T, et al. - Researchers used the Retrospective Multicenter Registry of Stent Thrombosis (ST) After First- and Second-Generation DES Implantation registry, to compare clinical results following first- and second-generation drug-eluting stent (DES) thrombosis. They analyzed ST patients (first-generation DES thrombosis [G1-ST], n = 342; second-generation DES thrombosis [G2-ST], n = 313). Propensity score matching was applied resulting in 159 matched patients. A significantly lower rate of target lesion revascularization was noted in the G2-ST group vs the G1-ST group. Findings showed that 1-year death in patients with G2-ST was similar to that in patients with G1-ST, this emphasizes that ST continues to be a life-threatening complication in the second-generation DES era.
