Outcome of patients with previous coronary artery bypass grafting and severe calcific aortic stenosis receiving transfemoral transcatheter aortic valve replacement
Catheterization and Cardiovascular Interventions Nov 23, 2019
Höllriegel R, Spindler A, Kiefer P, et al. - Researchers examined consecutive transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) patients stratified according to previous coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) vs no previous cardiac surgery (control) to determine how CABG affect early safety at 30 days and 1-year mortality in patients receiving TAVR. In the unmatched cohort and compared with control (n = 2,364), patients with CABG (n = 260) were younger, more frequently male and experienced more often from comorbidities leading to an increased STS-score.The analysis revealed no correlation of previous CABG with an increase in periprocedural complications and all-cause 1-year mortality among patients receiving TAVR when adjusted for other comorbidities.
