Outcome of children with hypodiploid acute lymphoblastic leukemia: A retrospective multinational study
Journal of Clinical Oncology Jan 24, 2019
Pui CH, et al. - Among children with newly diagnosed hypodiploid acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) treated in contemporary clinical trials, researchers assessed prognostic factors and value of allogeneic hematopoietic cell transplantation. For this retrospective study, data on 306 patients with hypodiploid ALL who were enrolled in the protocols of 16 cooperative study groups or institutions between 1997 and 2013 were collected. Children with hypodiploid ALL were noted to achieve improved outcome with minimal residual disease (MRD)-stratified treatments. Compared with chemotherapy, transplantation resulted in no significant effect on outcome alone, particularly in patients who attained a negative MRD status upon completion of remission induction.
