Outcome of carpal tunnel release and the relation with depression
The Journal of Hand Surgery Sep 28, 2017
Datema M, et al. - This study assessed the link between depressive symptoms and outcome of carpal tunnel release (CTR). Findings demonstrated that residual carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) symptoms 1 year after CTR were not independently predicted by depression. Notably, CTR afforded a reduction in depressive symptomatology as well as CTS symptoms. However, data failed to unveil the nature of this link. Furthermore, a somewhat higher degree of palmar pain, of small clinical relevance, may be experienced by these patients post-CTR.
