Outcome of body-contouring procedures after massive weight loss
Obesity Surgery Feb 21, 2019
Krauss S, et al. - The outcome of body-contouring procedures was assessed and was correlated to possible risk factors in this study of 112 patients who underwent 157 body-contouring procedures. Classic abdominoplasty was the most frequently performed procedure (n = 53). Findings revealed a notable association between preoperative BMI and weight of resected tissue in abdominoplasties, Fleur-de-Lis abdominoplasties, and body lifts. A significant correlation was also evident between weight of resected tissue and length of hospital stay and preoperative BMI and length of hospital stay as well. These findings emphasize revising the significance of risk factors commonly believed to have an influence on postoperative complications.
