Nygaard L, et al. – This retrospective cross–sectional study aimed to examine the prevalence of osteoporosis in patients with intestinal insufficiency and intestinal failure and identified associated risk factors. The authors concluded that patients with intestinal insufficiency and intestinal failure were at immense risk of developing osteoporosis. Factors identified as independent risk factors were low BMI and vitamin–D deficiency.
