Organisation of lymphocytic infiltrates in ANCA-associated glomerulonephritis
Histopathology Jun 07, 2018
Brix SR, et al. - Researchers compared the lymphoid organisation in renal biopsies with renal outcome in anti-neutrophil cytoplasmic antibody (ANCA)-associated glomerulonephritis (GN). For this analysis, one hundred twelve renal biopsies from patients with newly diagnosed ANCA-associated necrotising GN were investigated. Data reported that the renal lymphocytic organisation was linked with renal outcome in ANCA-associated GN. Findings suggested that the organisation of the lymphocytic infiltrate could be a morphological correlate of a perpetual and exaggerated inflammation in renal ANCA disease. In addition, classifying the lymphocytic infiltrate could help to predict the renal outcome, therefore, could be used for individualised adjustments in the intensity and duration of immunosuppressive therapy.
