Orbital lymphoma—An international multicenter retrospective study
American Journal of Ophthalmology Feb 24, 2019
Olsen TG, et al. - From January 1, 1980, to December 31, 2017, authors investigated the clinical characteristics of subtype-specific orbital lymphoma among 797 cases of mean age 64 years. They observed that 98% of lymphomas were of B-cell origin. They noted extranodal marginal zone B-cell lymphoma (EMZL), the most common subtype (57%), succeeded by diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) (15%), follicular lymphoma (FL) (11%), and mantle cell lymphoma (MCL) (8%). They treated localized Ann Arbor stage IE EMZL and FL with external beam radiation therapy whereas DLBCL, MCL, and disseminated EMZL and FL with chemotherapy. Overall, they suggested the histologic subtype as the main predictor for outcome.
