Dermatologic Therapy Aug 04, 2021
Al Salman M, Ghiasi M, Taraz M, et al. - No additional therapeutic impacts were gained by adding oral simvastatin5 to narrowband UVB (NB-UVB) phototherapy in treating psoriasis, when compared with previous studies.
A total of 48 psoriasis patients receiving NB-UVB phototherapy were randomized to oral simvastatin or placebo for 12 weeks.
Relative to baseline, Psoriasis Area and Severity Index (PASI) score decreased significantly in both groups after 6 and 12 weeks.
No significant differences in reducing PASI score and Dermatology Life and Quality Index were found between the two groups, neither at week sixth nor 12th.
Comparison of both groups revealed an insignificant difference in the improvement of quality of life.
