Oral metolazone increases urine output comparable to chlorothiazide IV as an adjunct to loop diuretics in HFrEF patients with ADHF

Journal of Cardiac Failure Aug 25, 2017

Shuster JE, et al. – This study compared the increase in 24 hr total UOP in HFrEF patients treated with metolazone (MT)/chlorothiazide (CT) plus IV loop diuretics (LD). Findings might indicate that in ADHF patients with rEF and diuretic resistance, while thiazide agents can substantially increase UOP, IV chlorothiazide might not provide benefit beyond oral metolazone 5 mg.
