Oral immunotherapy for peanut allergy (PACE): A systematic review and meta-analysis of efficacy and safety
The Lancet May 01, 2019
Chu DK, et al. - In this systematic review and meta-analysis, researchers compared the safety and effectiveness of oral immunotherapy with allergen avoidance or placebo (no oral immunotherapy) for peanut allergy. According to findings, high-certainty evidence demonstrates that available peanut oral immunotherapy regimens significantly increase allergic and anaphylactic reactions over avoidance or placebo, despite inducing desensitization effectively, in patients with a peanut allergy. Investigators suggested that safer treatment approaches for peanut allergy and rigorous randomized, controlled trials are needed to assess patient-significant outcomes.
