Clinical Infectious Diseases Sep 24, 2021
Nibell O, Svanstrom H, Inghammar M, et al. - Fluoroquinolone treatment was related to an elevated risk of acute liver injuries (ALI) in the first two months after initiating treatment in this propensity score matched study.
The risk of ALI linked to oral fluoroquinolone treatment was compared with amoxicillin (419,930 courses propensity score matched 1:1) in this study.
Compared with amoxicillin, users of oral fluoroquinolones had a more than 2-fold risk of ALI throughout a 60-day follow-up period.
The adjusted absolute risk difference between fluoroquinolones and amoxicillin was 4.94 per 1 million episodes.
