Oral cancer-associated fibroblasts predict poor survival: Systematic review and meta-analysis
Oral Diseases Jun 14, 2019
Graizel D, et al. - For patients with oral squamous cell carcinoma, researchers explored associations between cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAFs) and the risk of death. Participants in the study were 1,040 patients. According to this systematic review and meta-analysis, high CAF density with the male majority was linked to a more favorable prognosis. Multivariate COX regressions exhibited that death risk was significantly higher among patients with high CAF density vs low CAF. Data reported that male proportion and high mean age were significantly protective. As a reliable prognostic tool, a clinically validated cut-off for CAF density could serve.
