Optimizing waiting duration for renal transplants in the setting of renal malignancy: Is 2 years too long to wait?

Nguyen KA, et al. - This trial sought an improvement in the decision making by assessing the impact of waiting duration on the consequences of kidney cancer patients awaiting renal transplantation. The waiting duration did not exert an impact on cancer-specific mortality (CSM). Meanwhile, non-CSM (NCSM) led to a substantial improvement with shorter wait times. An improvement could be noted in the overall survival (OS) of potential transplant recipients with renal malignancy (RM) associated-end-stage renal disease (ESRD) by reducing waiting duration.
