Optimizing the dose of local infiltration analgesia and gabapentin for total knee arthroplasty: A randomized single blind trial in 128 patients

The Knee Jan 18, 2018

van Haagen MHM, et al. - This study was designed to test the hypothesis that administration of different combinations of ropivacain for LIA and gabapentin would result in no differences in reported postoperative pain on the day of the TKA surgery as well as the first day after surgery. Findings suggested that compared with 150-mg (75 ml) ropivacain, LIA with 300-mg (150 ml) ropivacain might be more effective. In addition, the course of pain did not appear to be affected by alteration in dose of gabapentin.
