Optic disc vessel density in nonglaucomatous and glaucomatous eyes: An enhanced-depth imaging optical coherence tomography angiography study
Clinical Ophthalmology Jun 26, 2018
Yoshikawa Y, et al. - The ability of enhanced-depth imaging (EDI) optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA) in detecting vascular signals inside the glaucomatous optic disc was determined. Researchers performed EDI and conventional OCTA for optic disc analysis on 10 glaucomatous eyes of 8 subjects and 11 nonglaucomatous eyes of 7 subjects. Observation suggested that conventional and EDI measurements were comparable regarding the correlation between disc VD and glaucoma severity. More vascular signals in deeper layers were revealed via images obtained with EDI-OCTA; this was perceived as an additional benefit. The disc VD, as determined by both conventional and EDI-OCTA methods, may be an indicator of glaucoma severity.
