Opposite effects of stress on pain modulation depend on the magnitude of individual stress response
The Journal of Pain Dec 17, 2017
Geva N, et al. - An inquiry was set up with regard to two pain modulation paradigms under acute stress manipulation, here for the first time. The intention was to examine if stress differentially influenced the pain modulation and whether the effect was associated with individual stress response. It was found to be probable that acute stress would induce opposite effects on pain modulation, based on individual stress reactivity magnitude, with an advantage to low stress-responders.
