Opportunistic screening for osteoporosis using thoraco-abdomino-pelvic CT-scan assessing the vertebral density in rheumatoid arthritis patients
Osteoporosis International Jun 07, 2019
Perrier-Cornet J, et al. - For osteoporosis screening in rheumatoid arthritis (RA) patients, the researchers intended to compare the result value of thoraco-abdomino-pelvic CT-derived bone mineral density (BMD) in L1 to dual energy X-ray absorptiometry. Through routine assessment of both vertebral fractures and bone density via CT-scans, a combined opportunistic screening for osteoporosis was offered. Such an approach for high osteoporosis risk RA patients could be beneficiary.
