Opioid, alcohol, and cannabis misuse among patients with hidradenitis suppurativa: A population-based analysis in the United States
Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology Mar 04, 2018
Garg A, et al. - The experts assessed substance use disorder (SUD) among hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) patients in the United States. They noted that the subjects with HS had higher odds of SUD and they could be benefited from periodic screening for substance abuse. Alcohol, followed by opioids and cannabis, were the most common forms of substance misuse among HS patients. A generally stronger relationship between HS and SUD was noted for patients aged 45-64 years, non-whites, privately-insured, and those without depressive or anxiety disorder.
