Ophthalmic inflammation on positron emission tomography in vision-threatening giant cell arteritis

Caterson HC, et al. - Researchers presented a case of a 77-year-old male individual (with two weeks of bitemporal headache, lethargy, and dyspnoea), who was admitted with findings of large pulmonary emboli. He developed pyrexia, scalp tenderness, jaw claudication, and elevated inflammatory markers during the admission. He described a 10-minute episode of sequential bilateral complete vision loss with full recovery. For suspected transient ischaemic attack, investigations including MRI of the brain and orbits were normal.
