Open vs arthroscopic Latarjet procedures for the treatment of shoulder instability: A systematic review of comparative studies
BMC Musculoskeletal Disorders Jul 28, 2018
Horner NS, et al. - Experts compared the clinical outcomes and positioning of the coracoid graft and screws between the arthroscopic and open Latarjet procedures. Shoulder instability could be effectively treated with similarly low rates of complications, recurrent instability and need for revision surgery by both open and arthroscopic Latarjet procedure. Findings suggested an association of arthroscopic Latarjet procedures with less early postoperative pain but these require increased operative time. Any significant difference in graft or screw positioning between the 2 techniques was not supported by the evidence. Neither procedure, at this time, demonstrates superiority over the other.
