One-year visual outcomes and optical quality of femtosecond laser small incision lenticule extraction and Visian Implantable Collamer Lens (ICL V4c) implantation for high myopia
Acta Ophthalmologica Feb 06, 2020
Niu L, et al. - In this prospective non-randomized study involving 37 eyes of 20 patients (mean age was 28.35 ± 4.19 years) who had small incision lenticule extraction (SMILE) (G-S) and 39 eyes of 20 patients (mean age was 27.30 ± 5.46 years) who had Visian Implantable Collamer Lens with a central hole (ICL V4c) implantation (G-V), researchers contrasted one-year visual results and optical quality after femtosecond laser SMILE and ICL V4c implantation for high myopia. According to results, G-S and G-V displayed comparable safety index and efficacy index at the one-year follow-up. Findings suggested that SMILE and ICL V4c implantation present good safety, effectiveness, predictability, and stability in correcting high myopia. During the one-year observation period, optical quality including intraocular scattering was high and relatively stable in both groups.
