One-year outcome of patients admitted after cardiac arrest compared with other causes of ICU admission. An ancillary analysis of the observational prospective and multicentric FROG-ICU study
Resuscitation Nov 08, 2019
Kimmoun A, Cariou A, Gayat E, et al. – Researchers compared patients who experienced cardiac arrest (CA) with patients admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) for all other causes for long-term outcome and health-related quality of life (HRQOL). From 1,635 patients discharged alive from 21 European ICUs, researchers included 1,561 in this study; of these, 1,447 were non-CA cases and 114 were CA cases. Outcomes revealed a better 1-year survival and a better HRQOL specifically on physical functions among CA patients discharged alive from ICU than patients admitted to ICU for other causes.
