One-year outcome of critically ill patients with systemic rheumatic disease
Chest May 14, 2020
Larcher R, de Chambrun MP, Garnier F, et al. - This study was attempted to assess short and long-term outcome of patients with systemic rheumatic disease (SRD) who were admitted to the ICU. Researchers examined all records of patients with SRD who were admitted to ICU between 2006 and 2016. They tested in-hospital and one-year mortality rates, and predictive factors of death were distinguished. This study enrolled a sum of 525 patients with SRD. After an ICU stay, critically ill patients with SRD had a fair outcome. It was noted that elevated age, prior corticosteroid therapy, and severity of critical illness were correlated significantly with short- and long-term mortality rates. Associations were found between the one-year mortality rate, prior health status and conventional disease modifying antirheumatic drug therapy.
