Inaba CS, et al. - This study was designed to examine 1-year mortality and factors predictive of 1-year mortality after contemporary laparoscopic bariatric surgery. Findings revealed that contemporary 1-year mortality after laparoscopic bariatric surgery was low at <0.25%. Researchers emphasized on the significance of continuous refinement of the techniques to minimize leaks and pulmonary emboli after bariatric surgery, as these complications contribute to a higher risk of mortality.
