One‐year outcomes of supersaturated oxygen therapy in acute anterior myocardial infarction: The IC‐HOT study
Catheterization and Cardiovascular Interventions May 15, 2021
Chen S, David SW, Khan ZA, et al. - Researchers herein report the 1‐year clinical results of intracoronary supersaturated oxygen (SSO 2 ) treatment following primary percutaneous coronary intervention (pPCI) in patients suffering from anterior ST‐segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) in a prospective, open‐label, single‐arm study (IC‐HOT). In IC‐HOT, a 60‐min SSO 2 infusion was delivered to 100 patients without cardiogenic shock receiving successful pPCI of an occluded left anterior descending coronary artery. A propensity‐matched control group comprising similar patients with anterior STEMI enrolled in the INFUSE‐AMI trial, was used for comparison of 1-year clinical outcomes. Findings revealed that improved 1‐year clinical results, including lower rates of death and new‐onset heart failure (HF) or HF hospitalizations, were conferred by infusion of SSO 2 post-pPCI in anterior STEMI patients.
