Oncoplastic breast conserving surgery is associated with a lower rate of surgical site complications compared to standard breast conserving surgery

Crown A, et al. - The surgical site complication rate between oncoplastic breast-conserving surgery (OBCS) and standard breast conserving therapy (BCS) were compared. Significant surgical site complications were lower with standard BCS. Compared to general surgeons, surgeons specializing in breast surgery had a lower incidence of surgical site complications. BCS showed a lower rate of surgical site complications compared to standard BCS technique despite being associated with more extensive surgery.
